The Eames Molded Plywood Dining Chair Metal Base, known as DCM, is a classic example of the Eameses’ philosophy of using honest materials. The chair, designed in 1946, uses two pieces of molded plywood and metal rods for support creating supreme body-cradling comfort. The gentle curves and comfort created from the molding process of a hard material established a foundation for future modern design.

A chair with a unique process to construct and a timeless design earned it the right to be named the Best Design of the 20th Century by Time magazine. The runner up was the steam locomotive.

Seat is at an upright angle, perfect for dining.
The Ebony-Stained Ash is not available with the Trivalent Chrome legs.

Upholstry is also an option. Please contact the Eames Office at 855.815.7757 or [email protected] for personal assistance on upholstered chairs.

Furniture, fabric, and vintage orders are considered custom orders and are non-returnable.

A handful of Eames furniture designs, such as the Lounge Chair and Ottoman or the Molded Fiberglass Shell Side Chair, have become ubiquitous. Some are a staple in the interior design of airports around the world.
