Now this chair is better than ever thanks to its three new plywood shells options, fifteen new shades of leather, and five shades of velvety mohair fabric.  

To commemorate Charles Eames’s centennial, Vitra produced the first Eames Elephant since the 1940s in both a red stained or natural maple. Only 1000 of each were produced, and are available exclusively on our website. 

In the 2010s, the Elephant entered full production in an American Cherry plywood. 

Then, for the Elephant’s 75th anniversary, Vitra launched a special series in grey-stained wood — bringing the intricately produced collector’s item even closer to its living counterparts. The special series is limited to 999 pieces, each of which have a special numbered label.

Before Ray was part of the Eames Duo she was an artist trained in New York City. This limited edition painting from the “Organic Shapes” series exemplifies the mastery of color and form that Ray was known for — and can be found in many Eames Office pieces.
